Is GATE tougher than JEE?

Sister (showing me a video): 'Then why is this guy talking nonsense? Everyone knows JEE is tougher.'

"Sister: 'Gate is easy,' said my sister who scored well in JEE Mains and Advanced but wasn’t happy with her board marks (around 94%, but she didn’t think it was good enough!).

Me: 'Look, if you want to get into the best DU colleges, the board exam is the toughest. If you want IIT, then JEE is the toughest. If you aim for IAS/IPS, CSE is the toughest. For PSUs or IITs for Masters, Gate is the toughest. For foreign universities, GRE/GMAT is the toughest. For AIIMS, it’s the toughest. For becoming a CA, that’s the toughest for you. Want to join the Indian Forces? NDA/CDS is the toughest. The same goes for SSC-CGL/CHSL/IBPS exams.

What's the most valuable lesson you've learned in life, and how has it impacted your journey so far?

Me: 'Yes, it is,' I agreed.

Sister: 'How can you compare? They serve different purposes and happen at different stages.'

Awkward silence

Why do some people hesitate to say 'I love you' even after their partners have said it first? How can one interpret this behavior from their loved ones?

Me: 'Exactly.'

Sister: 'Hmm, yes. The same goes for entrepreneurship or starting a business, right? They’re also tough if you want to succeed.'

Me: 'Was that a statement or a question?'

What happened to everybody's thick skin? It used to be that people really didn't get offended, now however, everybody gets offended by the least little thing.

Me: 'So that means it's the toughest exam?'

Sister: 'Nothing. But what’s wrong with admitting JEE is the toughest exam?'

After a minute...

Sister: 'What parameters? (Dodged the question)'

Me: 'Okay, but why are you so obsessed with comparing these exams? What are you comparing them on?'

Sister: 'Obviously, a statement.'

Me: 'Exactly! The same applies to Gate. When people say Gate is tough, they usually mean it’s tough for PSUs. Gate questions might be easier, but the competition is fierce due to limited seats.'

Sister: 'Really? Huh! Do you know how tough it is to give exams for nearly a month? And if you don’t get over 95%, you won’t get into a good college.'

She stared at me for about 10-15 seconds, then went back to watching the video.

Me: 'Exactly! What's the point of comparing different exams? What are you trying to say?'

Sister: 'Obviously Google/Facebook.'

Sister: 'Okay, but...'

What is your craziest/worst Halloween story?

Me: 'Everyone agrees JEE is tough. It’s impressive to have such a deep understanding at a young age. But let me ask you, which do you think is tougher, getting into Google/Facebook or IIT?'

Cricket isn’t the only tough game; the Olympics, Para Olympics, Tennis, Golf, etc., are equally tough. It might just be over-hyped.'

Me: 'I mean, are you comparing the failure rates, syllabus, depth of understanding, question difficulty, or the range of topics covered?'

Me: 'Now, if Google had a common exam to recruit, which would be tougher: JEE or the Google exam?'

Nothing is inherently tougher or easier; it all depends on what you’re aiming for. 💪😌"

Sister: 'No way, it’s not even relevant to compare them.'

Me: 'Board exams are easy.'
